  • Swedish & Relaxation

Swedish massage is the therapeutic massage standard for much of the Western world. Developed in the 1800s by Pehr Henrik Ling, it incorporates a variety of specific massage techniques to treat sore muscles, tension, stress, and poor circulation.

Most Western massage modalities have their origins in Swedish massage, and the majority of massage therapists in the West are trained in Swedish massage before they learn any other massage techniques.

Swedish massage is so ubiquitous that in Europe that it is known as Classic Massage.

  • Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing science believing there are reflex areas in the feet, corresponding to all glands, organs and tissues of the body. These reflexes are micro-cosms, or mini maps of the entire body, superimposed onto the feet.

Specific finger and thumb pressures applied to these reflex points help to create balance within the body, improving circulation and soothing the nervous system contributing to overall relaxation.

  • Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a style of massage that is designed to get into the connective tissue of the body, rather than just the surface muscles.

When a massage therapist performs deep tissue, he or she uses a variety of techniques to deeply penetrate the muscles and fascia, loosening them and releasing tension. Many clients have a more intense experience with a deep tissue massage, but also feel that it is more beneficial, because it addresses deep-seated muscle pains.

Like other types of massage, deep tissue is most beneficial when undertaken on a regular basis, so that therapist and client can work together to correct long term problems, relax the body, and prevent injury.

  • Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a form of massage. It is distinguished from other types of massage in that a quasi-static pressure is applied to the skin with the aim of stimulating specific areas of skeletal muscle. Often these areas of muscle are myofascial trigger points.

The most effective type of massage therapy for lower back pain is neuromuscular therapy. Neuromuscular therapy is also called trigger point myotherapy. The American Academy of Pain Management recognizes this form of massage therapy as an effective treatment for back pain caused by soft tissue injury (such as a muscle strain).

Neuromuscular therapy consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure on the areas of muscle spasm. The massage therapy pressure is usually applied with the fingers, knuckles, or elbow. Once applied to a muscle spasm, the pressure should not vary for ten to thirty seconds
